Shawn Evans (Fellow 2010-2011) will be presenting at the Association for Preservation Technology 2016 conference “Preserving Heritage with Tomorrow’s Technologies” in San Antonio on November 1st. The Association for Preservation is a cross-disciplinary, membership organization dedicated to promoting the best technology for conserving historic structures and their settings. Shawn will be speaking in paper session CS5.2, Vernacular Heritage: Honoring the Everyday. The presentation will will focus on the decade long preservation efforts at Ohkay Owingeh led by his firm, Atkin Olshin Schade Architects, as well as his Fitch-funded study of self-determined preservation approaches of the southwestern Pueblo tribes. Shawn is also excited to announce that the Owe’neh Bupingeh Preservation project at Ohkay Owingeh is a featured project in the exhibit “By the People: Designing a Better America,” opening at the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, in New York City on September 30, 2016.
